Nine neighbours came on the walk, and four joined us in the courtyard afterwards. I hadn't expected different arrivals to work so well. There was no single right way to take part.

I was nervous before the first conversation, but drawing the route gave me something easy to talk about. I didn't have to tell my whole life story to meet someone new.
Safiya
One neighbour took a seedling but couldn't stay because she was going to work. Later she sent a picture of it on her windowsill. A short meeting can still begin a connection.
Ben
I mixed up two names and felt embarrassed. Leah quietly helped, and nobody made it a big moment. Next time, I'll ask politely instead of pretending I remember everything.
