Our exchange group is making a small recipe book. Each person will describe a dish connected with their own experience. Nobody has to represent a whole country or share a private family story.
Milan
I can share the vegetable soup I make with my uncle. I will call it our version, because other families use different ingredients. There is no single correct recipe for everybody.
Aisha
I want every page to name the ingredients clearly. Readers can then decide what is suitable for them. We should ask about individual preferences instead of guessing from a person’s name or background.
Jordan
I will contribute a bean dish I learned to make in the United States. I will describe when I eat it, rather than claiming everyone back home eats the same thing.
