Ideas about tomorrow

4 Audios · Dauer 0:39 · Gruppe „Invention Predictions“

Transkript Teil 1
UhrPersonTextDauer
15:00Alex Hello Jo. This is Alex. Our class has drawn imaginary inventions for a little fair. None of the machines really exists. 0:10
15:01Jo Hi Alex. We can say what we think each invention will do in our story. These are predictions, not test results. 0:09
15:02Alex One picture shows a paper bus for a teddy. Another shows an umbrella with a friendly singing voice in our imagined world. 0:10
15:03Jo Good. The children can listen for what we expect to happen. We should not say that our pictures prove a machine will work. 0:10

Teil 2 · Chat

Listen for an expected result

4 Audios · Dauer 0:38 · Gruppe „Invention Predictions“

Transkript Teil 2
UhrPersonTextDauer
15:05Alex First, study my paper bus card. I think the bus will carry the teddy to the tower in our invented story. 0:09
15:06Jo Next, study my umbrella card. I think the umbrella will sing when someone opens it. That is my prediction. 0:09
15:07Alex Finally, choose those two prediction cards for our display. Put them inside the red folder, so we can find them together. 0:09
15:08Jo We have not tested these imaginary inventions. The class is listening to expected events, not hearing a report about completed experiments. 0:11

Teil 3 · Chat

Keep the cards in another folder

4 Audios · Dauer 0:37 · Gruppe „Invention Predictions“

Transkript Teil 3
UhrPersonTextDauer
15:10Alex The red folder has a broken clip inside. Our prediction cards are fine, but we need another folder to hold them. 0:09
15:11Jo Use the blue folder instead of the red one. Only the folder changes. Both invention cards stay in our display. 0:09
15:12Alex The umbrella prediction is still about singing. The paper bus prediction is still about carrying the teddy to the tower. 0:09
15:13Jo Please tell the group where the cards are now. A new folder does not make our predictions into real test results. 0:09

Teil 4 · Chat

A prediction is not a result

4 Audios · Dauer 0:41 · Gruppe „Invention Predictions“

Transkript Teil 4
UhrPersonTextDauer
15:15Alex I can draw a small thought bubble beside each invention. That reminds children that the speaker is saying what they expect. 0:10
15:16Jo I can keep a separate empty space for results. Our prediction cards do not belong there because nobody has tested the inventions. 0:11
15:17Alex I ask whether we are hearing a result or an expectation. That helps children explain the message instead of copying one word. 0:10
15:18Jo Exactly, Alex. An expectation is not a completed result. We can enjoy an invented idea while keeping those two meanings separate. 0:10

Teil 5 · Exit-Ticket

A new message · exit ticket

Transkript Teil 5

Jo Here is a new invented machine card. I think a tiny clock will tell a funny story at lunchtime. This is a prediction, not a tested result. Keep the clock card in the yellow folder. Jo will collect the folder on Monday. 0:19
