15:00Alex Hi Jo, Alex speaking. The class is trying a music room challenge. They must follow the spoken instructions before they play anything. 0:10
15:01Jo Hello Alex. This is not a concert or a competition. There is a drum, a bell and a shaker for our short activity. 0:11
15:02Alex We can use paper instrument cards too. A child can point to a card instead of making a sound. Both ways work. 0:10
15:03Jo Yes. The challenge is to listen for the order. We are not asking children to name an instrument just from its sound. 0:10

Build a little pattern

15:05Alex First, tap the drum twice. Then stop and wait. We need a short silence so everyone can hear the next instruction. 0:09
15:06Jo Next, shake the shaker three times. Keep your movements small. After the third shake, put the shaker down on the table. 0:09
15:07Alex Last, ring the bell once. That is the end of the pattern. The drum, the shaker and the bell each have a turn. 0:10
15:08Jo Our group is in room five on Wednesday. Please read the picture cards first. You can point instead of playing an instrument. 0:10

Change the last instrument

Transkript Teil 3
UhrPersonTextDauer
15:10Alex The bell is missing from our music box today. We need another way to mark the end of the same short pattern. 0:10
15:11Jo Use one hand clap instead of the bell. The final action changes from a bell ring to a clap. Make just one clap. 0:12
15:12Alex Keep the two drum taps and the three shaker sounds. The order of those first two actions stays the same as before. 0:09
15:13Jo Point to a clap card if you prefer a quiet version. Please explain the one change before the class tries the pattern again. 0:10

Teil 4 · Chat

Give everyone a way to join

4 Audios · Dauer 0:41 · Gruppe „The Music Room Challenge“

Transkript Teil 4
UhrPersonTextDauer
15:15Alex I can hold up a stop card after each action. That shows the pause clearly, even if the room is a little noisy. 0:10
15:16Jo I can offer picture cards for all three actions. Children who prefer silence can follow the whole pattern by pointing to those cards. 0:10
15:17Alex I watch the group before giving the next instruction. If someone is still checking the card, I can wait a moment. 0:10
15:18Jo Thanks, Alex. Waiting gives everyone time to follow. A quick performance is not our aim. We want a pattern that everyone understands. 0:11

Jo Try a new quiet pattern with cards. First, point to the bell card twice. Next, point to the drum card once. Last, point to the shaker card four times. We meet in room six for this activity. 0:21
